Stoke City Football Club

Stoke City Football Club, commonly known as Stoke City, is a professional soccer team based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Founded in 1863, the club is one of the oldest football clubs in the world. They currently play their home matches at the Bet365 Stadium, which was established in 1997. Stoke on Trent is known for its inconsistent weather and winds frequently gusting over 40mph. This causes issues for many away teams coming to play Stoke and jokes have dervided from it. The joke is that even the best player in the world can struggle when playing in Stoke. Could he do it on a wet windy Tuesday night in Stoke? I don't think so. One of the most intersting facts about a Stoke City player was that their goalkeeper once scored a goal from his own penalty box. It was scored from over 97 yards. This occurred in November 2013, when Stoke were facing Southampton. Southampton started the match with the ball and the ball made its way to goalkeeper Asmir Begovic who bombed the ball outward towards the opponent's goalie box. It was so windy that day that the ball carried and the ball bounced right over the other goalie's head. This all happened within the first 15 seconds of the match.

The club has a rich history and has seen success in various competitions. Stoke City has a loyal fan base and a strong presence in English football. Unfortunately they're not playing in the highest league but one day will return. Below are some quick facts about Stoke City FC.
